Conversations with Addie

The other day while doing laundry Addie came in and said, "mom did you know I had a different voice?  Everyone has a different voice but mine is really different".  I thought to myself, she's right her voice is pretty deep and raspy for a little girl.  So I asked if she'd heard someone say that her voice was different and she replied no.  I asked how she knew her voice was so different.  She replied, "my brain just told me so".  Well alright then.

My Princess

One of Addie's favorite activities is to pretend she's Cinderella and I'm her mean step-mother (I must admit I'm happy she feels the need to have me pretend to be mean).  She'll scrub away at whatever filthy surface she can find.  Today it was the driveway.

Disneyland

Our first trip to Disneyland!  The morning we told the kids we were going Addison must have asked a donzen times if we were 'really serious'.  It was an amazing trip. Camden fell in love with Snow White.  Seriously, all he wanted to do was have his picture taken with her.  Once Addison figured everything out she really enjoyed herself.  What do I mean by 'figured everything out'?  On day one after meeting Tianna, Bell and Ariel (her favorite princess) Addie looked up at me and said, "mom the princesses look different than they do in my books".  So I asked what she thought they looked like.  Her response, "they look like regular girls dressed up in princess costumes".  And upon meeting Pluto she whispered into my ear, "Pluto looks like he's made out of cotton not real dog fur like Hunter".  True, very true.  He also walks on two legs ...  My absolute favorite moment of the trip was watching the fireworks from Main Street.  David was holding Camden and I had Addie and as the show started Addie leaned over and kissed me.  She watched the entire show with an enormous smile on her face.  Simple, pure joy.

Tidbit & Gummy?

During the first few months of both pregnancies, before finding out if we were having a girl or boy, David and I couldn't bring ourselves to call the babies 'it' so they were inadvertently given nicknames to carry them trough their first 20 weeks of life.  Addie was Tidbit and Cam was Gummy.  Why or how we came upon those names I don't recall.  This blog is about them and for them.  Hopefully some day they can look back at the pictures and stories that follow and really appreciate the joy, and insanity, that they bring to our lives.
