Spring Break

What a spring break!  It started out with our annual visit to the Chandler Ostrich Festival.  We spent a significant amount of time in the fun house ... the twisty slide was the only way out!

A quick visit with the festival mascot,

and a cotton candy break.

Later that week the kids, my mom and I headed up to northern California to visit family.  The weather was cold and raining but we had a really good time visiting with everyone.  I'm choosing to block out the memories of Camden's monumental meltdown on the plane ride home .  Seriously, he was screaming like something out of Poltergeist, there was no controlling him.  My mom got so desperate she was offing him candy to calm down.  Now you know you're in a bad spot when even sugar doesn't rectify the situation.  And his flip out in the play area at the mall - Melissa you can comment on that if you like ;)

Cam with Aunt Jill & Jim's dog Lakota - that poor dog endured a lot of lovin!

We spent one morning at the Habitot museum in Berkeley.  The kids loved the astronaut exhibit.

The arts and crafts area was a huge hit also.

That's cousin Emma between Addie and Cam, and painting on the wall.

The lighting on this one isn't great but it's the only shot of the kids with Great-Grandpa Dave.  I love that they love him as much as I do!

Spring break ended with our neighborhood's annual Spring Fling.  The kids had a blast competing in sack races, dance contests and cake walks.  (Addie's in the blue shirt and Cam's up front in the second shot)

I now need a break from our spring break :)

Crafts

I love that the kids enjoy crafts.  For the longest time Camden didn't want anything to do with crafting, he'd just eat whatever we were working on.  In hindsight I find it quite funny that I would freak out if my son ate a lump of play-doh, not because he ate play-doh, but because the play-doh contained wheat. At any rate I'm just glad he's enjoying projects as much as Addie does now.

Mondays

Mondays Camden and I have two hours to ourselves while Addison is in school.  Most days I let Camden decide what we'll do together ... it usually involves a park and a blueberry scone from Starbucks.

My best attempt at a self portrait, unfortunately I have short arms.

Larvets?

Addie has always been an adventurous eater.  I'm usually so proud that she'll try anything but this makes me a little queasy.  David introduced her to these a few months back ...

And she really does enjoy them ....

While eating her worm snack she and Cam decided to make a spider web inside the house to see if they could catch more insects to eat ...

Unfortunately there were no bugs in the house to be caught so she took the worm snack to the web ....

And I spent my evening deconstructing the web.

Creativity

While I was cleaning the kitchen today I watched as Addie brought out an empty toy bucket from her room.  She put it up on the couch then grabbed a blanket.  Next she took off her clothes and climbed into the bucket.  As always Camden was right beside her following her every move.  When they'd finally both settled into their buckets I asked what they were doing.  Cam of course had no idea so Addie explained ... "We're being joeys and the buckets are our pouches and we had to take off our clothes because joeys don't wear clothes, and mom you know joeys are baby kangaroos, right?"  Um, yes I do.

Addie smiling 'like a joey' and Cam unaware that joeys don't use pacifiers.

Glasses

Just had to share a picture of Camden in his new glasses.

Meet Marley

Two weeks ago Grammy and Papa brought home a brand new puppy.  Cam and Addie are having a blast with him!
Grammy and Papa named him Marley.
Addie and Cam named him Chocolate.

5 weeks old and only 4 pounds!

Now 7 weeks old and growing every day!
